Sometimes people have every right to pull your credit reports regardless of whether you have given permission. If you apply for a loan, a job, or a home/apartment to rent, the lender/employer/landlord all have permissible purpose to check your credit reports. Sometimes they will inform you that they are doing so. However, they are allowed to access this information regardless of whether you say yes and regardless of whether they tell you about it or not.

Read about the eight permissible purposes under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).
