Under the FACT Act (also known as FACTA), all consumers are entitled by law to at least one free credit report every twelve months from each of the three credit bureaus.
This important law also marks the first time in history that this information is available from a centralized source (AnnualCreditReport.com), as mandated under FACTA.
Simply go to this website and you can order one, two, or all three of your credit reports (from the credit reporting agencies Equifax, TransUnion, and Experian). Usually it's a good idea to order one of them every four months; in this way, you can monitor your credit information more regularly. This free service does not include your credit scores or any credit monitoring services.
While credit scores are not offered free of charge, you may want to try Credit.com's new Credit Report Card to get an accurate estimate of your credit scores. It's completely free (no strings attached!), and creates no inquiry on your credit reports.
