You take such good care to shred all of your old bank statements, junk mail that has your name and address on it, old checks and anything else that a fraudster would find useful.
But are you really getting it all?
The next time you get a Pottery Barn or Harry and David catalog in the mail be sure to open it up and look for the order form that is almost always inserted. I bet your name and address have been pre-printed on it. And I also bet that you forgot to rip that out and shred it before you tossed the catalog into the garbage can. In the world of identity theft this is what is called “exposure.”
Remember, if I can figure it out…certainly a full time identity thief can too.
Check the inside of the catalogs that are mailed to you. My guess is that you’re not catching everything.
