The subprime mortgage meltdown has claimed the homes of hundreds of thousands of families. Now, a "fat cat" stands among the victims—literally.
WNBC.com reports that 44-pound "Prince Chunk" (a.k.a. "Powder"), a white tabby found ambling about the streets of suburban Vorhees, New Jersey last Saturday, had been abandoned by his owner, an elderly woman had lost her home and could no longer afford to take care of the cat.
Despite initial confusion about his gender—the 10-year-old was deemed a "princess" until a veterinarian determined otherwise on "Live with Regis and Kelly"—there have been no shortage of adoption offers for the tubby tabby.
