Another day, another advanced-fee loan scam that we managed to stop before it was too late. Today’s near victim was offered a $25,000 loan at 7% with a 15 year repayment term from a group of scammers calling themselves Hampton Group Services Inc. They asked him to wire transfer a $575 insurance payment paid to “Beck Insurance” for the loan to be granted.
Luckily, the scammers slipped up by randomly using Credit.com’s mailing address on their forms. A friend of the potential victim googled the address and emailed us to see if the loan was legit. We set them straight and saved the victim from losing $575. Here are the details about this latest loan scam:

We have eight pages of copies of the fake loan documents that the scammer sent our potential victim. If you are interested in seeing them, send us an email and we’ll gladly send them over.
Remember, these loan scams can be very convincing. But no legitimate lender would ever ask you to wire transfer any sort of insurance payment or security deposit before granting a loan. If you encounter such an offer, DO NOT SEND them money. Stay safe out there, internet!
