I’m a fan of Trent Hamm’s Simple Dollar blog, which offers no-nonsense advice about saving more of your money and spending less. A couple of weeks ago, I pointed to Trent’s terrific (and free!) eBook called “Everything You Ever Really Needed to Know About Personal Finance On Just One Page.”

Earlier this week, Trent launched The Simple Dollar Podcast, and in the first episode, he shares his story of how he, as a new father, realized that his finances were a mess, and that he’d better do something about it. His first step was to head to the library to read a couple of books: Your Money or Your Life and The Total Money Makeover. (He reads lots of books about personal finance — check out his reviews here.) Next, he established a budget, which is an absolute must if you want to gain control on your spending. He goes on to offer a number of tips, techniques and websites that could be useful for someone trying to get a handle on their finances.

In the next episode of The Simple Dollar Podcast, Trent says he’ll talk about “The Fulfillment Curve.” I’m looking forward to it.
