Target is the latest retailer to up its credit and debit card reward offerings to lure more consumers and help save existing cardholders money. The popular retailer will launch its 5 percent discount program on October 17, 2010, allowing shoppers who pay with their Target credit card, Target Visa credit card or Target debit card to save money on in-store and online purchases.
"This innovative, new initiative will provide Target REDcard holders with tremendous value on our exciting merchandise assortment - everything from electronics to fresh food," Target Financial Services president Terry Scully said. "This program makes Target's low prices even lower, so there's no need for Target REDcard holders to shop around."
In addition to the discount program, consumers who fill a prescription at Target stores will receive another 5 percent savings coupon for a future day of shopping.
Most major retailers offer money-saving rewards programs that may help consumers gain the maximum benefits on their purchases. Shoppers should find out if they qualify for rewards programs or discounts with their gas stations, grocery stores and large retail stores.
