Chase, one of the largest credit lending firms in the nation, provided more than $10 billion in credit to more than 250,000 small businesses, the company recently announced. This was a year-to-date increase of about 40 percent over 2009, making Chase the No. 1 lender to small businesses in the country. In particular, Chase executives said that credit card lending was an important part of helping support small business.
"Credit cards are a crucial foundation for small businesses, and we are proud to offer a suite of business credit cards devoted to one thing: helping small businesses grow," said Richard Quigley, president of Ink from Chase.
Many small businesses must rely on credit cards to help them make ends meet, and some studies have also found that using these accounts makes them more capable of hiring additional staff and increasing revenues.
