The Capital One Guaranteed MasterCard offers Canadian residents with poor credit a smart way to improve their credit standing if managed wisely.

Benefits

The Capital One Guaranteed MasterCard offers consumers with below-average credit scores the chance to rebuild their credit standing with consistent, on time monthly paymetns. It also offers customer service online and over the phone 24 hours a day, seven days a week and carries no fraud liability for unauthorized use. Capital One Guaranteed MasterCard also has no fee for late payments.

Rewards

While there are no rewards for Capital One Guaranteed MasterCard, it does offer a number of other enticing rates and advantages for consumers that would like to improve their credit standing.

Balance Transfers

Capital One Guaranteed MasterCard has no fee for balance transfers and carries no minimum. The interest rate for all balance transfers is 19.8 percent.

The basic annual percentage rate for the Capital One Guaranteed MasterCard is 19.8 percent, and carries the same rate for balance transfers and cash advances. There is also a $59 annual fee and $20 overlimit fee for the Capital One Guaranteed MasterCard.

The Pros and Cons of Prepaid Cards

Prepaid cards offer the convenience of a credit card without the difficult approval process or risk of getting into debt. These cards work a lot like a gift card, you will have to load the account with cash (direct deposit is usually available) before you can use it for a purchase

Prepaid cards are not credit cards; you cannot spend more than the balance you have deposited and you will not be charged interest for your spending. The prepaid account will not be reported to the credit bureaus as a credit card.
