In the event of identity theft, it’s crucial that you contact the authorities as soon as possible. Credit.com gives you the contact information for each agency you need to alert.

Financial institutions

If you suspect that you are victim of identity theft or you need to report a stolen credit card, contact your creditor or bank immediately. It’s best to use the phone number listed on the back of your credit card or on your account statements. In case you don’t have access to those numbers, here is the identity theft contact information for some of the most common financial institutions:

Credit bureaus

Contact one of the three credit bureaus to have a 90-day fraud alert placed on all three of your credit files.

Visit the Federal Trade Commission online to complete an identity theft affidavit and to complete an identity theft complaint form:
