I would like to suggest that you check out Chases "Freedom Card", which appears to me to be not a credit card, but a LOAN CARD.
The solicitation we received says that after a certain period, after 1/1/2010, a charge of 23.24%
will be the advance purchase finance charge. That seems to say that they will slap a hefty surcharge on all charges, with an annual rate of 23.24% on all purchases.
I am unable to drag a copy of the solicitation into this message, but will be pleased to send it via E-mail if I ave an address.

Further, Chase declines to provide a copy of the Cardmember Agreement until AFTER someone has applied and is approved.
You get a pig in a poke.
[I have documentation for all the statements.

I happen to be a very long time customer of Washington Mutual Bank which was acquired by Chase, and I have a free Debit card.
I believe that most people should have debit cards to preclude buying stuff they have no funds for.
(I also have crdit cards to use for Internet purchases using "Shopsafe" (MBNA/Bank of America and Citi's Virtual Account Numbers.
Those are the only safe means of buying safely on the Internet with temporary account numbers limited in value and time.

This is one of the reasons why reading the fine print is SO important. It pays to make sure you're fully aware of the terms on the account. I personally don't like the surcharge verbiage... makes me a little leery and I'd want clarification from the issuer before I'd consider applying.

Anyone else have experience with this card?
