Credit Question: Is there a credit card that doesn’t charge a balance transfer fee?

Answer: It’s not surprising that this has become a frequent question from consumers. Mailboxes across the country are being flooded with offers, many of them with excellent balance transfer opportunities. But it’s the balance transfer fees—usually ranging from 3 percent to 5 percent—that often give consumers pause.

DiscoverMoreNoBalanceXferFeeThese fees are fairly standard, but there’s an exception right now. The Discover® More® Card – No Balance Transfer Fee has temporarily eliminated this fee, which is usually 5 percent. And on top of this “fee relief,” you get a zero percent introductory APR for 12 months on purchases and on balance transfers.

Here’s the catch: This offer is only valid through February 28, 2011. So if you have a balance on a high-interest credit card and you have excellent credit, this offer might be worth considering.

At publishing time, The Discover® More® Card – No Balance Transfer Fee is offered on Credit.com product pages and Credit.com may be compensated if our users apply for and ultimately sign up for the card. However, this relationship does not result in ANY preferential editorial treatment.
