Tune in to Talk Credit Radio today, Friday, April 29, 2011 as host Gerri Detweiler tackles celebrity identity theft and financial planning for the rest of us:

What Can You Learn From a High Profile Identity Theft Case?

He’s not even a real person, but he’s been a victim of identity theft. Gaylord Focker, the lead character from the “Fockers” movies, along with actor Tommy Lee Jones and producer Tim Burton, were victims of an identity theft scam. An ex-convict and his partner were arrested on suspicion of identity theft and forgery in Glendale California.

You may not be famous, but what can this example tell you about protecting yourself from identity theft? Brian McGinley, Senior Vice President of Data Risk Management for Identity Theft 911 will explain what happened and what it means for you.

Financial Planning for the Rest of Us

One survey reported that more than half of middle income Americans don’t have anything saved for retirement. Talk Credit Radio host Gerri Detweiler will talk with  Sheryl Garrett, CFP®, AIF® and founder of The Garrett Planning Network, Inc., about how to create a financial plan—even if you don’t have a lot of money socked away for savings and investment. Sheryl will help listeners with some of the most important financial planning strategies for college planning and financing, getting on track after graduation, couples planning to tie the knot, or retirees struggling to make do on retirement savings or income.

Sheryl has been dubbed “The All-American Planner,” possibly because of her zealous mission to “help make competent, objective financial advice accessible to all people.” Sheryl’s fresh approach as a financial advisor working with clients on an hourly, as-needed, fee-only basis has evolved into an international network of likeminded financial advisors, the Garrett Planning Network.

Listen live between 2-3 pm Eastern Time/11 am -12 pm Pacific Time on Friday April 29, 2011. Free podcasts of Talk Credit Radio episodes are also available on iTunes.
