J.Crew is an internationally recognized clothing retailer that sells everything from high-end fashion to casual clothing, jewelry, swimwear and accessories. With over 300 stores in North America and many more locations worldwide, J.Crew is a retail powerhouse and, like many of its competitors, offers its own credit card to reward loyal shoppers.

Loyal J.Crew customers may find the J.Crew Credit Card enticing for its shopping rewards. Read on to get the card details and find out if it’s right for you. (Note: It’s important to read the credit card agreements for full details.)

A Retail Card for J.Crew Loyalists

The J.Crew Credit Card is issued directly through Comenity Bank, one of the top providers of merchant-branded credit cards. Consumers can apply in-store or online directly through Comenity’s application portal. Applications can potentially be approved within minutes, depending on your credit. (Note: Store credit cards are often much easier to qualify for than traditional credit cards, so if you’re working on building or repairing your credit, you may still qualify.)

The card can be used at all J.Crew, J.Crew Factory or J.Crew Mercantile (think outlet) stores and online at jcrew.com or jcrewfactory.com. Although Madewell is a J.Crew company, J.Crew does not list Madewell locations as eligible for card usage.

Cardholders earn a $10 rewards card for every $200 spent and an annual birthday gift. Having the card also gives users invitations to exclusive private J.Crew events and early access to select items. At the time of publishing, J.Crew is offering 15% off the first purchase on a new card.

As for services, cardholders get free standard alterations to clothing, personal shopping experiences (stores can even open early or stay open late, as needed) and access to an exclusive priority customer service hotline. There is also free online account management and bill pay.

There is no annual fee associated with this card, and additional cards for authorized users come free.

Though not unusual for a store credit card, the APR is a bit on the high side at a variable 27.24% (as of 12/18/2019).

Is the J.Crew Card Right for You?

While the J.Crew Credit Card benefits are appealing, they’re likely only going to benefit the most loyal and dedicated J.Crew shoppers who spend a lot at J.Crew annually. Otherwise, the fact that you’re limited to using the card at J.Crew stores is pretty restricting.

As we mentioned, the variable APR comes in at a high 27.24%, which can really tack on extra money if you can’t make a payment in full. If you tend to carry a balance, looking at a different credit card with a lower APR may be a better option.
