The freelance world offers great flexibility and can even provide variety if the worker has several different clients. In fact, a Freelancers Union and Upwork study found that 77% of freelancers said this type of work offers them a good work-life balance.

But the big question is: Where are the jobs?

Well, FlexJobs, an online database of telecommuting jobs and other flexible job roles, took a look at their database and determined 15 companies with the highest volume of freelance job listings so far in 2017. The site lists the most common categories for freelance jobs as computer and IT work, project management, accounting/finance, administrative and software development.

Getting Freelance Work

The Freelancers Union and Upwork study found that about 2 million people joined the freelance workforce from 2014 to 2016 (from 53 million to 55 million). So if you’re looking for a new gig in the freelancing world, you aren’t alone.
