Want a car that won’t quit? An SUV is a solid choice, according to a study by iSeeCars.com.

The automotive research firm found the 14 cars that were most likely to run for 200,000 miles and it turns out SUVs topping the charts — half of them were SUVs made by General Motors, Ford and Toyota. Owners of the top seven vehicles, all SUVs, drove them an average of 14,407 miles per year, 14% more than the average vehicle.

Stronger Than the Average Vehicle

iSeeCars analyzed more than 13 million used cars sold in 2016 from model years 1981 through 2017 for the study. For each model, they calculated the percentage of cars with at least 200,000 miles and only about 1% of the cars surpassed this threshold. But for all the models that made the list of top 14, at least 2% of vehicles passed the threshold. In other words, these models were twice as likely to make it to 200,000 miles.
